First pilot train runs on the Huelva–Córdoba rail motorway

The first test train of a new rolling-highway service for semi-trailers has run between Huelva and Córdoba — organised by the Port of Huelva with Ewals Cargo Care as operator and VTG as wagon/technology partner (r2L loading technology). The aim is to prove viability for later connections to Madrid and Zaragoza; the corridor's potential is estimated at over 27,000 truck loads. The Port of Huelva had previously invested around €7.7m in terminal upgrades.
