Porto Metro's Line H (Rubi Line) will link Casa da Música in Porto with Santo Ovídio in Vila Nova de Gaia over 6.4 km and 8 stations, including a new Douro river crossing (Ferreirinha Bridge) reserved exclusively for the metro, pedestrians and cyclists. According to Portuguese media (April/May 2026), the completion deadline — originally 2026/2027 — has slipped to 22 July 2028, due in part to weather events and tunnel-excavation difficulties. The project is financed with about EUR 352 million from the EU Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) plus additional funds; having missed the PRR deadline (31 August), it will exit that programme and be financed going forward via the Environmental Fund and state budget.
