On 3 September 2026, in the presence of Transport Minister Óscar Puente, Hutchison Ports BEST put into service two new ship-to-shore cranes built by ZPMC in China; they can work ships of 24,000 TEU at full productivity, and the terminal's fleet grows to 15 quay cranes. The terminal, with a 1,500 m quay and 16.5 m draught, is in an expansion phase due to end in late 2027 with six automated blocks; three more cranes were announced recently. Puente cited €1.216 billion of investment by the state port authority in the Port of Barcelona for 2026 to 2030 and called for further rail links; the date is a placeholder for the end of 2027, and the article gives no investment figure for the terminal (LOK Report, 8 Sep 2026).
