Stora Enso closes CLT production in Gruvön, about 80 jobs affected

Stora Enso announced on 29 September 2026 that it would permanently close cross-laminated timber (CLT) production at the Gruvön sawmill and concluded the change negotiations on 22 October 2026: the unit will be shut by the end of 2026, affecting about 80 positions. The group cites slower-than-expected market growth, rising wood costs and relatively high fixed costs; dismissals will only follow after further talks on staffing effects, and sawn timber deliveries are unaffected (Stora Enso, release via Cision, 22 Oct 2026).
