Stora Enso Packaging is opening change negotiations (muutosneuvottelut) covering about 50 employees: corrugated packaging output is to be concentrated in Lahti and the Kristiinankaupunki (Swedish: Kristinestad) unit shut permanently, no earlier than May and no later than September 2027. The company cites a difficult Finnish market for several years, relatively high fixed costs and the need for equipment investment; sales, customer service and warehousing would remain on site (Yle, 22.09.2026). Update (29.10.2026): Change negotiations have ended. Stora Enso Packaging is ending corrugated packaging production in Kristiinankaupunki, with about 50 jobs lost and fewer than 10 staff remaining in warehousing, sales and customer service. Production moves to Lahti from November, with the transfer expected to finish in autumn 2027 (Yle, 29.10.2026).
