The five-star Hotel Cascais Miragem Health & Spa announced on 9 September 2026 the collective dismissal of 177 employees (142 permanent, 35 fixed-term); from 1 November 2026 the hotel will close for at least two years for a renovation worth around EUR 205 million. The union disputes the legal basis for the dismissal and is urging staff to contest it (ECO, 9 September 2026).
