- UK Treasury launches independent review of business rates valuations for pubs and hotels — additional 20% relief from April 2027
Pubs, social clubs, live-music venues and hotels are affected: from April 2027 an additional 20% cut to business rates bills applies, on top of the 15% cut in effect since April 2026, which saves the average pub around GBP 1,650 in 2026/27. The review responds to sharp valuation increases after pandemic-era rules expired.
Announced 24 August 2026; independent review led by industry expert Jerry Schurder, call for evidence closes 16 October 2026, final report due 31 March 2027, implementation targeted for the next revaluation in 2029.
