The Swedish telecommunications group Ericsson plans to cut around 1,600 jobs in Sweden (more than one in ten jobs among its ~12,600 employees). Ericsson employs around 2,400 people in Germany at 12 sites; jobs could be cut there too. Which sites and functions are specifically affected will be clarified in negotiations with unions. Reasons: a long-standing weak mobile-network market, rising inflation costs, competitive pressure. The cuts are part of a global plan; further measures in other countries are to be announced separately.
