GO modernises GO-1 submarine cable between Malta and Sicily

Telecoms provider GO is replacing the line terminal equipment at both ends of the roughly 290 km cable, commissioned in 2008, with newer transmission technology under the MOGOSC project, to improve capacity, cybersecurity and compliance with European requirements. Eligible costs are €1.56m, with the EU contributing €778,636.50 (50%) from the Connecting Europe Facility Digital; completion is planned for September 2027, and 30 Sep 2027 is a placeholder.
