By the end of 2026 Nestlé is ending production of hollow chocolate figures (seasonal confectionery) at its Diósgyőr (Miskolc) site — according to the company due to a sharp fall in demand; the affected line accounts for under 0.4% of Hungarian manufacturing. This is not a full plant closure; Nestlé is seeking a buyer to preserve confectionery production and jobs at the site. The number of affected employees was not stated (second source: economx.hu). Update (19.10.2026): Nestlé Hungária agreed on 11.09.2026 to sell the plant to Hungary's Vimpex Group; Vimpex commits to continuing confectionery production without interruption from early 2027 and will keep at least a third of the roughly 220 employees, while up to 140 leaving staff get a severance package (Hungary Today, 14.09.2026). The closure of the site has therefore been averted.
