Prime Minister Péter Magyar and Finance Minister András Kármán present the 2027 draft budget on 19/20 Oct 2026

The deficit is to fall from about 7.5% of GDP (2026) to 4.9%; spending is cut by HUF 1,465bn (about €4bn)

Cuts hit unfavourable concession contracts (HUF 246bn) and business subsidies (HUF 170bn); higher levies on large companies, tobacco, retail, insurers and advertising come on top, plus the planned wealth tax. Fitch keeps Hungary at BBB (outlook negative) and expects a 2027 deficit of 5.4% (Daily News Hungary, 20 and 23 Oct 2026).
