Portugal's Council of Ministers decides on 22 January 2026 that CP may buy up to 20 high-speed trainsets (12 firm, option on 8 more; Resolution No. 25/2026); in parallel the infrastructure ministry launches the concession tender for the Oiã–Soure section of the Porto–Lisbon line

The tender is due to start at the end of 2026 and the trains are to arrive by 2032, so that the first operating phase on Porto–Lisbon (journey time from 2:48 hours to under 1:20 hours) can begin; a second phase provides for up to 6 more trainsets for international services (26 in total).
