On 27 July 2026 RWE completed the purchase of further shares in the M31 holding company, taking its indirect stake in transmission system operator Amprion to around 55%. Following the German Federal Cartel Office's unconditional clearance on 17 July 2026, the deal closed in under five weeks from announcement; the purchase price of roughly €3.6 billion went to five existing M31 shareholders.
