Hungary grants hauliers a 25-forint-per-litre fuel excise rebate

Budget cost of about HUF 6.3bn; refund as for farmers; the MFFE association calls the relief too small

On 9 October 2026 the government decided to give transport firms a fuel excise rebate of 25 forints per litre until the end of the year; like farmers they can reclaim the amount, at a budget cost of about HUF 6.3bn. The MFFE hauliers' association calls it helpful but insufficient and had asked for 128 forints per litre plus a 10% toll refund (vg.hu, 9 Oct 2026).
