Kosta glasbruk to cut 55 jobs at its Swedish glassworks

Staff at the historic Kosta glasbruk glassworks — part of Orrefors Kosta Boda and thus of New Wave Group — were informed on 22 Sept 2026 of a large-scale redundancy notice (varsel) covering 55 positions, including glassmakers in the furnace hall and the grinding shop as well as office staff. The cause is long-standing weak profitability, aggravated by high electricity prices; the owner had already moved part of production abroad and reduced headcount. The figure of 55 positions is based on reporting by Smålandsposten; Orrefors Kosta Boda had not commented initially (Smålandsposten, 22 Sept 2026).
