Announced on 15 December 2025: with a foundation-stone ceremony, HHLA's rail subsidiary METRANS has begun building its second Hungarian terminal in Szeged (its first has operated in Budapest since 2017). On about ten hectares the site will get four 330 m tracks and two remote-controlled electric gantry cranes for six train pairs a day and up to 300,000 TEU a year; the report gives no investment sum or job figure. As Hungary's southern gateway, the terminal is meant to connect regional industry and trade with Europe's sea and inland ports and to attract further investment. The date is a placeholder: the article gives only 2027 for the start of operations, and 31 December 2027 is used. (LOK Report, 15 Dec 2025)
