- Project
- Rapid tram ("tram rapide") Cloche d'Or – Leudelange – Foetz (2030 stage)
- Investment
- The first construction phase was budgeted at roughly EUR 840 million for 18 km of infrastructure plus EUR 120 million for 12 vehicles (about EUR 900 million combined); press reports indicate this budget is expected to be exceeded. The line is not an extension of the existing city tram line T1 but a new project: the "tram rapide", a second north–south axis between Cloche d'Or (Luxembourg City) and Belvaux near Esch-sur-Alzette. Opening happens in stages: Cloche d'Or–Leudelange from 2028, extension to Foetz from 2030, further to Metzeschmelz in 2032 and Belval/Belvaux in 2035. The Leudelange–Foetz section is about 10 km long and designed for speeds above 70 km/h; overall the project comprises 13 new stops and 5 new interchange hubs.
