Indorama Ventures to close Steinfort plant, affecting 100 jobs

On 1 July 2026 Indorama Ventures announced the closure of its Steinfort plant in Luxembourg (right on the Belgian border near Arlon), which specialises in yarns and tyre cord. On 22 July 2026 the unions OGBL and LCGB, the staff delegation and management signed a social plan providing training, retraining and outplacement measures plus above-statutory severance for around 100 employees; the unions published the agreement on 24 July. The trigger was a domino effect: the French upstream plant in Longlaville (Meurthe-et-Moselle) stopped production at the end of June, and Steinfort was also heavily dependent on a single customer. According to OGBL and LCGB it is the largest industrial site closure in Luxembourg since the TDK plant shut in 2007.
