Správa železnic has signed the construction contract for the 15 km upgrade of the Praha-Ruzyně–Kladno line, the longest stage of the Praha–Letiště–Kladno project; the award went to a consortium of Subterra, OHLA ŽS, Elektrizace železnic Praha and Swietelsky with a bid of CZK 8.279 billion (EUR 340 million), more than half a billion below the estimated value. The line, mostly on a new alignment, will be double-track and electrified and allows speeds of up to 145 km/h thanks to straightened curves; works were due to begin in spring 2026 and last until 2029, and according to a report of 22 December 2025 the administration had received the final building permit shortly before. The date is a placeholder: the article names only the year 2029 as the end of the building period; announced on 8 Apr 2026 (contract signing) (LOK Report, 8 Apr 2026; earlier report of 22 Dec 2025).
