MD Elektronik closes Vratsa plant with about 550 employees

Automotive electronics maker MD Elektronik is closing its plant in Vratsa in mid-2026; in the coming weeks it will only complete ongoing projects and accept no new orders. About 550 employees are affected, most in production, administration and finance; the company points to the deteriorating market in the European automotive sector with declining volumes and stronger competition (Eurofound European Restructuring Monitor, February 2026).
