EU extends the suspension of its countermeasures against US tariffs with no new end date

The suspended package covers additional tariffs on EUR 93bn of US imports and export restrictions on EUR 95m of EU exports. The measures remain adopted but dormant; the Commission can reactivate them if it considers that necessary to defend European interests.

The European Commission has rolled over the suspension of its rebalancing measures against US tariffs by implementing regulation. The previous suspension (Regulation 2026/295) would have expired on 6 August 2026; the new arrangement applies with no end date ("will remain suspended without an end-date") and is meant to ensure seamless continuation. The underlying implementing regulation was adopted on 30 July 2026 and the announcement is dated 31 July 2026 — the date field carries the date of public announcement.
