Commission launches T-MED platform with €4.5bn guarantees

- On 26.10.2026 the European Commission launches the T-MED investment platform for renewable energy and clean technologies in the Mediterranean
Up to EUR 4.5bn of EFSD+ guarantee capacity is meant to mobilise private investment; named projects include an Egyptian grid programme worth EUR 1.6bn and a green ammonia project worth EUR 575m
Besides guarantees, the platform is meant to improve permitting and grid access and to match investors with project promoters. The Commission cites Egypt (grid programme of €1.6bn, ammonia plant of €575m) and Tunisia as examples (European Commission, 26.10.2026).
