ÖBB is upgrading the Pottendorf Line between Wampersdorf and Ebenfurth: new Ebenfurth and Pottendorf-Landegg stations plus a roughly 1.6 km four-track crossing structure; construction began in August 2025 and is ongoing (as of mid-2026). The planned "Ebenfurth loop" (a direct Pottendorf–Neufeld link enabling through trains between Burgenland and Vienna without transfers) is stuck in court after its permits were overturned (now before the Verwaltungsgerichtshof), leaving its construction start uncertain. Per the tracker list, completion is scheduled for 2029; ÖBB's overall Pottendorf Line project is targeted for completion by 2031.
