On 7 October 2026 the European Commission disbursed €1.24bn from the defence component of the Ukraine Support Loan, to be spent on drones, interceptor drones, drone ammunition and missiles built by Ukrainian companies. The loan, created in February 2026 by Regulation (EU) 2026/467, runs to up to €90bn, with an indicative split of about €60bn for defence and €30bn for budget support across 2026 and 2027; €28.3bn of defence disbursements are planned for 2026 alone, with further payments due in the coming weeks. The Commission says €32.5bn remains available to Ukraine for the rest of the year: €28.1bn under the loan (€15.4bn defence, €12.7bn budget support) plus €4.4bn under the Ukraine Facility. Since 2022 the EU and its member states have provided €228.7bn in support (European Commission, press release, 7 Oct 2026).
