Ukraine's DEMZ sets up ammunition production in Lithuania with up to 450 jobs

Ukrainian defence company DEMZ and the Lithuanian government have signed an investment agreement: DEMZ plans to build an ammunition assembly plant near Balbieriškis in Prienai district and manufacture shell components in the Alytus Industrial Park, creating up to 450 jobs. Construction is due to begin in autumn 2026 and production to start by the end of 2027; the investment amount was not disclosed, the mayor of Alytus spoke of tens of millions of euros. The Ministry of Defence signed a memorandum of understanding in parallel (LRT English, 14 Aug 2026).
