Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania synchronised their electricity grids with the continental European grid in February 2025, disconnecting from the Russian-Belarusian BRELL system. The EU Commission supported the necessary infrastructure – including the LitPol Link (Poland), NordBalt (Sweden) and Estlink (Finland) interconnections – with more than EUR 1.2 billion from the Connecting Europe Facility for Energy. The date was moved up from the originally planned end of 2025.
