After years of interruption, passenger trains have again run between Niš and Leskovac since 9 October 2026 on the line towards Preševo and Skopje: six train pairs cover the 49 km with eleven intermediate stops in 59 minutes. The 22.8 km Niš–Brestovac section was modernised and is cleared for 120 km/h; Stadler multiple units are used. According to the source, the resumption had been announced several times before (LOK Report, 9 Oct 2026).
