Italy reactivates Cuneo–Saluzzo–Savigliano railway line

The 49 km single-track, non-electrified Savigliano–Saluzzo–Cuneo railway in Piedmont (sections Savigliano–Saluzzo 17 km and Saluzzo–Cuneo 31.8 km) had been closed to passenger traffic since June 2012 (with only a brief partial resumption in 2019). On 27 January 2025 the full line was reactivated after nearly 13 years by private operator Arenaways under a 10-year contract with the Piedmont region. The preceding infrastructure rehabilitation cost approximately EUR 40 million; four ATR 220 diesel multiple units with 155 seats each are in service.
