The Bruneck/Brunico–Franzensfeste/Fortezza railway in South Tyrol's Pustertal has been comprehensively renovated, including 13 stations with adjustments to the facilities and better accessibility; after test runs with SAD and Trenitalia trains, reopening was scheduled for 27 January 2026 (announced on 26 January 2026). The final works on the Riggertal loop follow, which from the end of 2026 is meant to cut the Bruneck–Brixen/Bressanone journey by 15 minutes; the date is a placeholder: only the end of 2026 is given. The Province of South Tyrol, RFI and the transport ministry are involved; the report gives no costs. (LOK Report, 26 Jan 2026)
