Event
After the second round of EU-China trade and investment consultations, Šefčovič lists three understandings on hybrid-vehicle exports, tariffs and rare-earth licences

Chinese hybrid exports to the EU could fall by more than half; EU exports worth almost €4bn get lower Chinese tariffs (at least €225m in savings); easier export licensing for rare earths

After the second round, Šefčovič lists three understandings: China is to moderate its exports of hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars to the EU, lower most-favoured-nation tariffs on EU goods from car parts to olive oil worth almost €4bn, and ease export licensing for rare earths. This is described as only a first step; the third round of consultations is planned for March (European Commission, statement, 9 Oct 2026).
