Hungary's antitrust body clears Vajda-Papír's purchase of Sofidel plant

On 29 July 2026 Hungary's competition authority GVH cleared, without conditions, Vajda-Papír Kft.'s acquisition of Sofidel Hungary Kft.'s private-label household paper manufacturing business and parts of its distribution operations at the Lábatlan site; the authority found the deal would not significantly reduce competition in the markets concerned. Vajda-Papír is Hungary's leading family-owned tissue paper manufacturer with more than 700 employees across three Hungarian sites and one in Norway. The transaction value was not disclosed.
