Event
On 21 Oct 2026 the European Commission opens formal proceedings against Booking.com under the Digital Services Act

The probe covers risk assessment and mitigation for fake listings and phishing and the lack of ad labelling for paid listings; no outcome or fine yet

The Commission is examining whether Booking.com has diligently assessed and mitigated systemic risks from fraudulent and non-compliant accommodation listings and from phishing that exploits reservation and guest data. It will also check whether listings ranked higher for a fee are clearly identifiable to users as advertising (European Commission, 21 Oct 2026).
