US transmission maker Allison Transmission, the new owner of the former Dana plant in Sommariva Perno, announced on 16 September 2026 the closure of the site: all production and the 180 employees are to be moved to the Rivoli (Turin) plant about 50 km away. FIM-CISL, FIOM-CGIL and UIL call the decision 'unacceptable' and point out that during talks at the industry ministry MIMIT the company had assured that no Italian site would be closed; an eight-hour strike was held outside the plant on 17 September 2026 (Quotidiano Piemontese, 17 September 2026). Update (22.09.2026): Industry minister Adolfo Urso ordered a formal review of whether Allison is complying with the golden-power conditions attached to its purchase of the plant, and summoned the company to the ministry; Senator Giorgio Maria Bergesio had previously tabled a parliamentary question (Cuneo24, 22.09.2026: https://www.cuneo24.it/2026/09/golden-power-sulla-ex-dana-graziano-il-ministero-convoca-allison-transmission-360613). Update (02.10.2026): At a meeting at the Unione Industriale in Turin, Allison and the unions Fim, Fiom and Uilm signed a minute suspending the transfer of the 180 workers to Rivoli: while talks on alternatives for the Roero site continue, the company may not move staff or machinery and the unions have suspended strikes (Grugliasco24, 02.10.2026).
