On 1 April 2025 the new Centro Direzionale terminus of Naples Metro Line 1 opened, extending the line from Garibaldi (terminus since 2013) into the Centro Direzionale business district. After about ten years of construction, the "art station" cost roughly EUR 43 million; it sits only 12 metres below ground and connects underground to the Napoli Centro Direzionale railway station (Circumvesuviana). Further sections toward Capodichino and Piscinola Scampia–Di Vittorio are under construction to close the loop line (expected completion around 2026/2027).
