Vienna opens tram line 18 through the Prater to the Stadion

Since 5 September 2026 line 18 has run over the new roughly 3.1 km section from Schlachthausgasse (U3) through the Prater to Stadion (U2), linking Burggasse-Stadthalle (U6), Westbahnhof and the main station directly with the stadium (main station–Stadion about 25 minutes). Seven new stops, 70 m of grass track, about 10,300 m² of new green space, some 200 trees and 2,150 m of new cycle paths; Wiener Linien expects six million passengers a year. The Prater section Stadionallee/Meiereistraße is closed to general motor traffic.
