· Transport / rail

Location
Koprivnica–Novo Drnje (Križevci–Koprivnica–Hungarian border railway, Croatia) · 🇭🇷 Croatia
Project
Botovo–Koprivnica–Dugo Selo railway modernisation (M201 line)
Investment
EUR 350 million (whole reconstruction/second-track project Križevci–Koprivnica–state border, 42.6 km, co-financed by the EU's Connecting Europe Facility)
Status
Partial reopening completed – overall project still under construction (about 90% finished, full completion planned for end of 2026)

On 16 December 2025, Croatian infrastructure manager HŽ Infrastruktura reopened the Koprivnica–Novo Drnje section to passenger traffic after more than ten years of closure, including the new Novo Drnje station and the Peteranec stop between Koprivnica and Novo Drnje. The section is part of the EUR 350 million, 42.6 km reconstruction and double-tracking of the Križevci–Koprivnica–state border line (M201), which is roughly 90% complete. Once fully finished (targeted for end of 2026), the new double track is meant to allow speeds up to 160 km/h; the 2025/2026 timetable initially runs three train pairs on the Zagreb Central Station–Dugo Selo–Koprivnica–Novo Drnje route. Update (18 Dec 2025): According to HŽ Infrastruktura, passenger services Zagreb main station–Dugo Selo–Koprivnica–Novo Drnje resumed already with the timetable change on the night of 13 to 14 December 2025, after more than ten years without service. The new Novo Drnje station is built to be fully interoperable (six electrified track connections, a 160 m side platform, and an electronic signalling and safety system in trial operation since the end of September 2024), and trains also stop at the newly built Peteranec halt. The 2025/2026 timetable provides for three train pairs as the start of planned local services around Koprivnica; the overall project (42.6 km, about EUR 350 million) is about 90% complete and is due to finish by the end of 2026, which is why the date is set to the end of 2026.
