On 24 July 2026 collective redundancy letters were handed to all 60 employees of aluminium castings maker Dongo Casting, making the closure of the plant on the former Falck steelworks site final. It follows years of crisis since the 2019 takeover by China's Shenyu group. The agreement includes a clause giving the workforce priority for re-hiring should the site ever reopen.
