Event
On 22 Oct 2026 the European Commission and the CPC network welcome commitments by Coca-Cola, Nestlé and Danone to change recycling claims on plastic bottles

The three companies replace claims such as "I am a bottle made from 100% recycled plastic" with "This bottle is 100% recycled. Excluding cap and label" and "Recycle me again" with "Recycle me"; national authorities monitor implementation

The case goes back to a November 2023 alert by the consumer group BEUC; the dialogue was led by the Swedish Consumer Agency and the Hungarian Competition Authority. According to the Commission, Coca-Cola and Nestlé have already implemented some commitments, mainly in digital campaigns, and online marketing is to be aligned too (European Commission, 22 Oct 2026).
