ZTE Italia cuts 81 jobs and closes four sites

ZTE Italia, the Italian unit of the Chinese telecom equipment maker, has opened a collective dismissal procedure for 81 of its remaining 177 employees (almost half the workforce) and plans to close four sites (Padua, Bari, Bologna, Catanzaro). The unions SLC-CGIL, FISTel-CISL and UILFPC condemned the move on 14 September 2026, calling it 'the tip of the iceberg' of a structural crisis in Italy's telecom sector (Il Diario del Lavoro, 14 September 2026).
