Scania opens SEK 975m R&D test facility in Södertälje

On 19 October 2026 Scania opened a new R&D test facility in Södertälje covering about 85 hectares, an investment of roughly SEK 975m. It has 13 km of paved and 4 km of gravel roads plus braking tracks and areas for testing electrification, autonomous systems, safety and vehicle dynamics, partly replacing external proving grounds. The company gives no figure for new jobs (Scania, press release via Cision, 19 Oct 2026).
