Ardo to close plant in Groß-Enzersdorf, 190 jobs affected

Belgian frozen-vegetable group Ardo is giving up its processing and packing plant in Groß-Enzersdorf (Marchfeld, Lower Austria): vegetable processing will run until December 2026, after which the lines will be shut down step by step; from August 2027 Ardo intends to run only its sales operation in Austria. Around 190 employees, for whom a social plan is being negotiated, and 50 seasonal agency workers are affected; according to the company, modernising the plant, founded in 1965, would have cost more than €100m (ORF Lower Austria, 24 September 2026; second source: OTS release by the Austrian branded goods association, 25 September 2026).
