The Mattersburg line between Wiener Neustadt Hauptbahnhof and Loipersbach-Schattendorf is being electrified, with an additional double-track section built between Wiener Neustadt and Katzelsdorf. Main construction began in October 2025, with a full line closure and rail-replacement bus service planned for 2026 (9 February to 12 December). Around EUR 143 million is being invested, with completion planned by the end of 2027.
