The European Commission presented its military mobility package on 19 November 2025; it is meant to raise the EU's defence readiness through better connected and more resilient transport systems while also benefiting civilian passenger and freight transport. The draft regulation makes preparing the rail system for military mobility a core task of ERA; the package also provides for national coordinators for cross-border military transport, a new military mobility group and a strengthened TEN-T committee. The European rail supply association UNIFE welcomes the package, offers the new group advisory support and calls for a European preference and for excluding high-risk suppliers from third countries; the details of the package come from its statement, which names no amounts.
