The Southern Adriatic Sea Port Authority marked the start of construction of new quays at the Port of Bari on 16 July; the project (built by the RTI Fincantieri Infrastrutture consortium) is worth around €39 million. Announced on 16 July 2026. Completion: the works are to be finished in 2028 without interrupting port operations; the exact day is not known, so the entry date of 31 December 2028 is a placeholder. At the Molo San Cataldo a new logistics and berthing base is being built for the coastguard's offshore patrol vessels, with dredging to seven metres, carried out by a consortium led by Fincantieri Infrastructure Opere Marittime with Boskalis Italia, Zeta and e-Marine. The ministry of infrastructure provides €36m and the port authority €3m. The upgraded basin is later to allow a marina with around 200 berths (Shipping Italy, 18 Jul 2026).
