Gredelj in Zagreb to be shut down by June 2026

According to trade union statements, the Slovak owner Tatravagonka has decided to end all business activity at the Zagreb rail vehicle maker by June 2026; the roughly 300 employees are to be made redundant with severance pay, and it is open whether a small team will stay on to look after the idle site. The fate of contracts running until 2032 and the future maintenance of vehicles of the railway company HŽ Putnički prijevoz are also unclear.
