Staropramen to end beer production at Ostravar brewery in Ostrava

Pivovary Staropramen, part of Molson Coors, will wind down production at the Ostravar brewery, founded in 1897, in several stages during 2027; the main Ostravar brands will in future be brewed at the company's Smíchov brewery in Prague. Around 120 brewing staff will lose their jobs, while sales, marketing and logistics stay in the Moravian-Silesian region. The company cites falling beer consumption, higher costs for packaging, energy and transport, and the need to make better use of its brewery network (e15.cz, 8 Oct 2026).
