The 5.2 km metre-gauge tramway between Piazza Oberdan in Trieste and Villa Opicina (rising from 3 m to 329 m, including a 799 m cable-hauled section with gradients up to 26%, 13 stations) resumed service on 1 February 2025 after nearly nine years of closure. The system failed again in October 2025, with repair work planned through summer 2026.
