Announced on 2 Oct 2025: the European Commission approved Italian state aid of €24.5 million (case SA.118718) for expanding the Interporto Bologna freight terminal; the beneficiary is the operator, Interporto Bologna. By the end of 2026 the platform is due to gain five additional tracks of 750 m each and about 80,000 m² of extra area to move more freight from road to rail; the terminal sits where three TEN-T corridors meet, and the Brenner Base Tunnel is expected to boost rail freight in the region markedly after 2030. The date is a placeholder: the article names only the end of 2026 as the target and says nothing about construction start or progress. (LOK Report, 2 Oct 2025)
