According to Bane NOR, the new double-track section of the Vestfold Line between Drammen and Kobbervikdalen (Buskerud county) is about 9 km long, including 6-7 km of tunnel through Strømsåsen, and opened for traffic on 31 August 2025. The project includes a new city bridge over the Drammenselva river, an upgraded Drammen station (platforms raised 40 cm for flood protection) and a permanent train parking facility at Sundland. Combined with the separate Nykirke-Barkåker project, it is intended to enable four trains per hour in each direction.
