Six new tram sections are currently being built in Prague and are due to open by 2028, to ease poorly connected areas and capacity bottlenecks in an already dense network. They include a line from the National Museum through the upper part of Wenceslas Square, as there last was in 1980, continuing to the main station and on to Masarykovo station; construction began in summer 2024 and opening is planned for summer 2027. Photographs of 29 March 2026 show the building sites at the National Museum, on Wenceslas Square and at the future junction near the main station; the report gives no costs. The date is a placeholder: the article names only summer 2027, so the end of the summer is used; announced on 14 Apr 2026 (LOK Report, 14 Apr 2026).
